Nick
The best minor welder in the world…probably. Nick has been repairing and welding Minors for 20 years. He is able to give you a reasonably accurate estimate for welding provided he can first see what he needs to weld. People often phone and ask for a welding quotation and are surprised when we explain that it is very difficult to guess without seeing the job. Sometimes the panels either side of the main corrosion could themselves need replacement and we’d rather give an accurate quote/estimate than have people find that the cost is far more than they had budgeted for. So if you need any welding done let us look at it first.
There probably isn’t anyone on the Minor scene that’s been welding for as long as Nick has, and with that time comes experience. He knows how to weld convertibles so they don’t sag. We’ve seen some abysmal examples of other peoples “welding” (We usually call this bodgery and skullduggery), that we’ve had to put right. We weld all types of Minor and have done several convertible conversions over the years. This involves quite a lot of body strengthening and welding especially to the sills, and has to be done accurately in order to avoid distortion and poor panel gaps.
Welding is Nick’s forte and he likes to see a job well done. He always uses proper repair panels for welding wherever possible and not covers or oversills to hide corrosion and create a rust sandwich. Its amazing sometimes we have to take off 4 layers of panels that have been welded on over the years before we can even start to repair a section. He mainly uses my welding as it is very strong and covers less panel distortion and we have gas and spot welding too.
Nick is the last hippy who still wears cloggs (when he can get them) and it is with much regret that I advise you of the demise of his ponytail after 15 years he has a normal haircut.
